Here are some key details about the Giganotosaurus in Ark: Survival Evolved:

  1. Size and Appearance: The Giga is significantly larger than most dinosaurs in the game. It stands tall and has a long body, powerful legs, and a massive head with sharp teeth. It is easily recognizable by its unique color pattern, featuring a dark grey body with red markings.
  2. Strength and Abilities: The Giganotosaurus is one of the most powerful creatures in Ark. It has incredibly high base stats, including health, melee damage, and stamina. Its bite can deal devastating damage to both creatures and structures, making it a formidable predator.
  3. Taming and Riding: Taming a Giga can be a challenging task due to its high health and torpor resistance. However, once tamed, it becomes a powerful mount and ally. Riding a Giga allows you to traverse the map quickly and engage in combat with other creatures or players.
  4. Food Preference: Gigas have a unique food preference—they primarily feed on Raw Prime Meat. It’s important to have a good supply of Raw Prime Meat available for feeding during the taming process and afterward to keep them well-fed.
  5. Behavior: Wild Gigas are extremely aggressive and will attack anything that comes near them, including players, tamed creatures, and structures. Tamed Gigas retain their aggressive nature and will attack enemies on sight, making them excellent combat mounts.

The Giganotosaurus is a highly sought-after creature in Ark: Survival Evolved due to its immense power and capabilities. Taming and riding one can provide a significant advantage in battles and exploration, but it requires careful planning and preparation due to its strength and aggression. Lets talk about How to tame a giga.

Things to consider Before Taming

  • A Trap (Basic 4 Metal Gates) You need to either trap it or take the chance of it going into the water. There are times they like the disappear as well.
  • Narcotics (1000 Narco bowls)
  • Tons of Crossbows and longneck rifles (If you have good blueprint crossbow or longneck rifle you will take him down better.)

Taming a Giganotosaurus, often referred to as a “Giga,” in Ark: Survival Evolved can be a challenging task. These massive creatures are one of the most powerful predators in the game, and taming them requires careful planning and execution. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to tame a Giga:

  1. Preparation:
  • Before attempting to tame a Giga, ensure that you are well-prepared. Stock up on necessary supplies such as Tranquilizer Darts or Arrows, a Longneck Rifle, a crossbow, Narcotics, and plenty of food for yourself and your taming creature.
  • It’s recommended to have a taming creature with high health and damage output, such as a high-level Rex or Spinosaurus. This will help you defend yourself during the taming process.
  1. Locating and engaging the Giga:
  • Gigas are typically found in certain areas of the map, such as the mountains or the snow biome, depending on the map you are playing on. Use a flying mount to locate one.
  • Once you spot a Giga, plan your approach carefully. Make sure to keep a safe distance and avoid aggroing it prematurely.
  1. Tranquilizing the Giga:
  • Using a Longneck Rifle or a crossbow, shoot Tranquilizer Darts or Arrows at the Giga to begin knocking it out. Aim for its body or head.
  • Keep a close eye on the Giga’s Torpor level. Gigas have an enormous Torpor pool, so you’ll need a substantial amount of Tranquilizer shots to keep it sedated.
  • Have a taming calculator handy to estimate the number of Tranquilizer shots required based on the Giga’s level and your weapon’s effectiveness.
  1. Protecting yourself:

There is no way to protect yourself from a giga attack, you need to be warned a few bites will kill you or the tame your on. They have a bleed attack that causes most of the gigas damage. Wild gigas are not like tamed ones, they have a lot of health. Use your Trap to keep you and your tame away while knocking out a giga.

  • Once the Giga is unconscious, you’ll need to feed it with its preferred food—Mutton or Kibble. You can give it to him right away or wait for starve timer.
  • Keep an eye on the Giga’s Torpor level and continue to apply Tranquilizers or Narcoberries/Narcotics as needed to keep it unconscious. They have fast Torpor levels… meaning once he goes down and gets 1/4 of waking up, you need to feed 100 narcotics to him. It will take a while for him to start dropping again. So keep a watch on him at all times.
  1. Completion and aftermath:
  • Once the Giga’s hunger is satisfied, and its taming progress reaches 100%, it will become tamed and wake up.
  • You will need a saddle and watch out for enraging the giga. Drop damage, high damage, brings up the enrage meter that causes him to turn on you.

Taming a Giga requires patience, resources, and a solid plan to succeed. It’s recommended to have a tribe or a group of players to assist you during the taming process, as it can be quite dangerous to attempt alone. Ive always tamed Gigas solo, so it can be done both ways, just got to plan.
